New German Ambassador-Designate Vows to Further Strengthen Cambodia-Germany Relations
AKP Phnom Penh, September 15, 2026 --
H.E. Ms. Silke Röfer, newly appointed Ambassador-Designate of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Cambodia, has pledged to make every effort during her tenure to further strengthen relations between Cambodia and Germany.
The commitment was made during her courtesy call and presentation of credentials to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace this afternoon, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate.
During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, on behalf of His Majesty the King, congratulated H.E. Ms. Silke Röfer on her appointment as Germany’s Ambassador to Cambodia. He expressed his hope that her presence and mission in Cambodia would contribute to further strengthening and deepening relations between the two countries.
H.E. Ms. Silke Röfer said that during her mission, she would work to promote economic and trade cooperation between Cambodia and Germany, particularly by encouraging German businesspeople to invest in Cambodia.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the Ambassador-Designate’s remarks, particularly her focus on strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation. He considered these areas to be the core of relations between the two countries.
The Acting Head of State also expressed satisfaction with the steady growth of bilateral trade in recent years. Germany is an important trading partner of Cambodia in Europe, with bilateral trade volume reaching as much as US$3 billion, and expected to continue increasing.
