Cambodia Responds to False Information Posted by Thailand’s First Army Area Official Page
AKP Phnom Penh, December 08, 2025 --
Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence this afternoon issued a clarification in response to what it described as repeated dissemination of false information by the official Facebook page of Thailand’s First Army Area, which has been widely shared by some Thai media outlets.
According to the ministry, the Thai military page has recently posted claims alleging that “Cambodia has mobilised heavy weapons along the Cambodia-Thailand border,” a narrative the ministry says is entirely untrue and intended to mislead both national and international public opinion, as well as to create unnecessary military tension between the two neighbouring countries.
The Ministry of National Defence firmly rejected the claims and underlined two key points:
1. The assertion that Cambodia has mobilised heavy weapons along the border is false.
2. Cambodian forces have not undertaken any action that violates the ceasefire agreement or the Joint Declaration on Peace Deal between Cambodia and Thailand, contrary to the allegations made on Thai social media and in some media reports.
The Ministry of National Defence reiterated Cambodia’s strong commitment to fully respecting and implementing the existing ceasefire agreement and Joint Declaration, stressing that the country remains dedicated to maintaining peace and stability along the border.
Cambodia will continue close cooperation with Thailand at all levels to pursue practical joint mechanisms aimed at promoting peace, stability, and a swift return to normalcy between the two nations, added the Ministry.
