Tourism Minister: Cambodia Values Peace and Cherishes Development Opportunities
AKP Phnom Penh, August 19, 2025 -- Cambodia and the Cambodian people love and value peace very much, and truly cherish the development opportunities that peace brings.
The statement was made by H.E. Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, while he and H.E. Ek Sam Ol, a Member of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King and President of the Cambodia-China Friendship Association, were presiding over the Cambodia-China Joint Art Performance under the theme “Wings of Peace” to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China, held at the Morgan Tower located at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh on Aug. 18 evening.
He took the opportunity to express gratitude to the Chinese Government and the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, who have contributed to promoting the negotiations until a ceasefire agreement was reached between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as Chinese friends in Cambodia who have joined forces with the Cambodian tourism family to provide financial support, materials and food to the displaced people along the Cambodian-Thailand border.
H.E. Minister also extended warm and sincere welcome to all Chinese tourists who are full of love for peace, yearning for friendship and eager to learn more about the rich culture of Cambodia. At the same time, he believes that every visit by Chinese friends is a vivid demonstration of Cambodian-Chinese friendship and a strong impetus to the “wings of peace”.
“Cambodia is a safe, peaceful and attractive international tourist destination,” he underlined, pointing out that in the first 7 months of 2025, Cambodia received 3,710,000 international tourists, of them 690,000 were Chinese tourists, an increase of 48.2 percent.
“Dear Chinese people, please spread the ‘wings of peace’ to visit Cambodia and experience the wonders and beauty that Cambodia and the Cambodian people have to offer,” he said.
