Siem Reap Residents Prepare Traditional “Ansorm” Sticky Rice Cakes for Frontline Soldiers

In a spirit of national unity and solidarity, residents of Sotr Nikum district, Siem Reap province, today came together to prepare traditional “Ansorm” sticky rice cakes and other local delicacies to support Cambodian soldiers stationed along the border in Oddar Meanchey province.
The initiative, led by Venerable Lun Samby, Chief Buddhist monks of Muntyean Pagoda in Kork Russey Khang Cheung village, Dan Run commune, Sotr Nikum district, saw villagers making approximately 5,000 cakes, including “Ansorm,” “Kantam” and “Ansorm Kbong,”as well as fried “Bay Kream” rice.
Additionally, about 500 kilogrammes of “Ambok” (glutinous rice roasted and crushed with pestle) were prepared to be delivered to soldiers safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity along the border with Thailand.
Venerable Lun Samby said the activity was organised to demonstrate unity and encouragement for the armed forces who are defending Cambodia’s sovereignty, and to reflect the enduring spirit of “Khmer helping Khmer” in contributing to the morale of the nation’s defenders.
Aside from the “Ansorm” cakes, the offering package also includes a quantity of daily basic necessities. These will be delivered to the border troops in Oddar Meanchey province on Aug. 16.
