The extraordinary meeting of the Secretariat of the 27th Cambodia–Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC), between Cambodia’s Military Region 3 and Thailand’s Chanthaburi–Trat Border Defence Command, is set to commence this morning in Thailand’s Trat province.
The update was shared by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defence, during a press briefing held in Phnom Penh this morning.
This meeting follows the outcomes of the special meeting held on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, Malaysia, as well as the extraordinary session of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) concluded on Aug. 7, 2025.
On Tuesday, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata noted that Cambodia is preparing for an RBC meeting with Thailand, scheduled to take place within the next two weeks.
“Cambodia strongly hopes that this RBC meeting will contribute positively to the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and help restore peace, security, stability, and normalcy in relations between the two countries,” she stressed.
The spokesperson also reaffirmed Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to respecting and strictly implementing the ceasefire reached on July 28, 2025, as well as the consensus adopted at the extraordinary GBC meeting on Aug. 7, 2025, held under the observation of Malaysia, the United States of America, and the People’s Republic of China.
She further urged the Thai side to uphold the spirit of the ceasefire and work toward a peaceful resolution of the issue in accordance with the principles of international law, ensuring a just, impartial, and fair outcome that will bring peace and prosperity to both nations and peoples.
