Cambodian Senior Minister H.E. Kitti Sangahapundit Kun Kim, leading a Royal Government delegation, paid tribute on Aug. 2 to four Cambodian soldiers killed in a recent border clash with Thai troops. 

He also delivered financial support from Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse, Lok Chumteav Pich Chanmony, to the soldiers' families.

The four soldiers died in a border incident that occurred in late July along the Cambodia-Thailand frontier in Oddar Meanchey province.

During the ceremony, H.E. Kun Kim, who is also the First Vice President of the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) and Head of the Royal Government’s Working Group for Oddar Meanchey Province, offered his deepest condolences to the grieving families. He praised the fallen soldiers for their sacrifice, calling them "noble warriors who dedicated their lives for the Nation, Religion, and King."

"Their commitment reflected the highest ideals of patriotism, as they actively defended Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity for the peace and well-being of the people," he said.

On behalf of top leaders, including Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Cambodian Red Cross President Samdech Kittiprittpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen, and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, H.E. Kun Kim expressed profound gratitude for the courage and heroism of the fallen soldiers, affirming that their sacrifices "will forever be remembered in the national conscience."

He also reiterated Cambodia's commitment to peace and friendly relations with its neighbours through diplomatic channels while remaining firm in its resolve to defend its sovereignty. He noted that the Cambodian people have shown strong support for the armed forces, a demonstration of national unity and patriotism.

To honor the fallen, each of the four bereaved families received a financial grant of 80 million Riel (approximately US$20,000) from Prime Minister Hun Manet. Additionally, following the Prime Minister’s appeal, banks have agreed to cancel all outstanding debts held by the families of the deceased soldiers.

The Senior Minister urged citizens to continue supporting the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, who, he said, is "unwavering in his efforts to safeguard peace, stability, and the nation’s territorial integrity."
