Cambodia and China’s Yunnan Province to Boost Agriculture Cooperation

Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Yunnan province of the People’s Republic of China are committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation on agriculture.
The commitment was highlighted in a meeting between H.E. Prak David, Secretary of State at MAFF and H.E. Wang Xiangang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, on July 21 at the ministry’s office in Phnom Penh.
H.E. Prak David informed his guest about the achievements of cooperation in the agricultural sector between Cambodia and China, especially with Yunnan Province, emphasising potential expansion of joint agribusiness and agricultural research.
He proposed the Yunnan provincial delegation to support the transportation of Cambodian agricultural products to China via land and high-speed rail through Laos.
H.E. Secretary of State also encouraged the Yunnan delegation to attract Chinese investors to Cambodia, particularly to invest in processing and exporting potential agricultural products to China and international markets through the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
In response, H.E. Wang Xiangang expressed support of the proposal of the ministry, which will further expand agricultural trade between Cambodia and Yunnan province.
