Senate President Continues to Support and Encourage Women in Public Administration
AKP Phnom Penh, June 04, 2025 --
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting greater participation of women in public administration.
The statement was made this morning during a meeting at the January 7 Palace here with a delegation from the Cambodian National Council for Women (CNCW), led by H.E. Mrs. Ing Kanthaphavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs and Chairwoman of the CNCW.
According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recommended that the CNCW propose to the Royal Government an increase in gender representation, including appointing at least two female deputy governors at the sub-national level and ensuring women make up 50 percent of new government recruits.
Samdech Techo expressed his vision for the next 20 to 30 years, hoping to see women play an even greater role in national development.
Following the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen shared on his social media that he had handed over approximately two hectares of land—valued at around US$10 million—originally reserved for Bayon TV Station in the Chroy Changvar area. The land will now be used by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs to build a dormitory for 500 female students, along with a health post.
