The first ATR 72-600 aircraft of Air Cambodia arrived at the Phnom Penh International Airport on May 27 as the airline marks the beginning of a new era in the airline’s ongoing efforts to modernise its fleet, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen domestic and regional connectivity.

The ceremony with water solute was held at the Phnom Penh International Airport in the presence of H.E. Mao Havannall, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, representatives of Air Cambodia, and relevant stakeholders.

The ATR 72-600 is known for its excellent fuel efficiency—consuming 15–20 percent less fuel than older aircraft—and its ability to operate on short runways, making it ideal for Cambodia’s airport network.

Passengers will enjoy a quieter, more comfortable cabin, with wider seat pitch and modern amenities. Fully compliant with ICAO’s latest environmental standards and trusted by over 200 airlines globally, the ATR 72-600 is a smart, reliable choice for regional operations.

Air Cambodia is set to complete the delivery of three ATR 72-600 aircraft within 2025. Following the arrival of the first aircraft in May, the second and third aircraft are expected in October and November, respectively.

In parallel, the airline is also advancing the introduction of Airbus A320 aircraft and other aircraft types capable of operating longer-range routes, ensuring a diversified and modern fleet tailored to varied operational needs.

To meet the growing demand for international travel, Air Cambodia is actively planning to expand its route network to high-potential markets, including Northeast Asia, China, South Asia, and Australia.

Through a step-by-step approach based on market readiness and operational feasibility, the airline aims to increase its global presence and enhance Cambodia’s connectivity with the world. As part of its long-term strategy, Air Cambodia also plans to expand its fleet to 33 aircraft to support future growth and international expansion.

Currently, Cambodia Air operates domestic flight service and international flight service to China, Thailand, Vietnam.

The airline has planned to fly to Japan in October of 2025 after the authorities of both countries granted permission to respond to the growing demand for tourists and investment in Cambodia.
