Foreign Military Attachés Witness Thai Blockade at Cambodia Border Crossing
AKP Phnom Penh, April 28, 2026 --
Delegation of Military Attachés Corps in Phnom Penh (MACPP) continued their observation visit to Chey Chumneas Border Checkpoint in Pursat province, where Thai forces have unlawfully occupied and further blocked access using shipping containers and barbed wire.
The visit is part of the Second Annual Tour of 2026 for the MACPP, facilitated by the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence.
According to the Ministry, the visit took place at 1:35 p.m. on April 28 at the checkpoint located in Thmar Da commune, Veal Veng district.
Early in the same afternoon, the MACPP delegation also visited O’Phluk Damrei area in the same province.
The Ministry said the tour was arranged to allow representatives from friendly countries to directly observe conditions along the Cambodian-Thai border and monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement. It also helps promote transparency, credibility, and accurate reporting regarding the border situation.
The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed their commitment to resolving all border issues peacefully in accordance with international law and relevant bilateral agreements.
Cambodia also reiterated its adherence to the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) signed on Dec. 27, 2025, which aims to maintain stability and promote peaceful mechanisms for addressing border matters.
