National Assembly Condemns Thailand’s Aggressive Attacks on Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, December 17, 2025 --
The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia has issued a statement of condemnation against Thai military’s aggressive and indiscriminate attacks on Cambodia.
“The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia unequivocally condemns Thailand’s armed aggression on Cambodia, involving the use of all types of heavy weaponry, F-16 fighter jets, DTI-2 rockets, navy vessel, combat drones, 105mm and 155mm artillery, armored vehicles, cluster munitions, and toxic gas, among others, on many locations along the Cambodia-Thailand border in various Cambodian provinces and violated approximately 80 to 90 kilometres deep into Cambodian territory,” read the statement AKP received this evening.
Such brazen and continuous acts of aggression is a grave violation of Cambodia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, the ASEAN Charter, and the spirit of the ASEAN Community, which presents a threat to the global and regional order and security, it underlined.
According to the statement, the inhumane, brutal, and barbaric attacks against Cambodia were not limited to military targets; but the Thai military also targets innocent and unarmed civilians, causing the loss of 17 lives and injuries to 77 civilians and the forced displacement of over 400,000 people. The attacks have also damaged and destroyed UNESCO world heritage sites and national historical cultural heritage, including Preah Vihear Temple, Ta Krabey Temple, Tamone Thom Temple, and other temples, hold significant religious and cultural importance. Furthermore, the use of heavy weaponry and F-16 fighter jets to strike deep within Cambodian territory has resulted in the destruction of critical civilian infrastructure, such as residential homes, schools, hospitals, pagodas, hotels, casinos, local administrative offices, bridges, roads, and others, which is a clear violation for International Humanitarian Law and the international obligations regarding the protection of civilians and cultural property.
“The National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia calls on Thailand to withdraw its military from certain areas of Cambodian territory, and to unconditionally and immediately cease the use of all types of heavy weaponry for its aggression against Cambodia and any military operations that endanger civilian lives. Thailand must honour the Ceasefire Agreement, the Joint Declaration, as well as the obligations under international law strictly, in good faith, and with genuine goodwill,” it added.
The National Assembly concluded its statement with an appeal to the international community to condemn Thailand’s utmost inhumane, illegal, and barbaric war crimes, and to hold Thailand fully accountable before international law for these destructions, acts of violations, and war crimes of aggression inflicted upon Cambodia.
