Prime Minister Hun Manet Sends Aid to Displaced Families in Border Province
AKP Phnom Penh, December 07, 2025 --
More than 200 families in Banteay Meanchey province, recently displaced by cross-border hostilities, have received urgent humanitarian assistance from Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and the First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony.
The aid delivery, managed by provincial authorities, targeted residents of Prey Chan village, O’ Beichoan commune, O’ Chrov district, who had been forced to flee their homes due to armed conflict along the border and have only recently returned.
Provincial Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey, accompanied by Provincial Council President Phlek Vary, delivered the packages of food supplies and cash support on Dec. 6 afternoon, acting on behalf of the Prime Minister and the First Lady.
The assistance is particularly crucial for the community as stability is restored. The original report noted that more than 10 families remain temporarily housed at Prey Chan Pagoda, unable to return to their homes located near areas previously affected by incursions, which are still considered unsafe.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Governor Oum Reatrey expressed his deep gratitude to the
Prime Minister and the First Lady emphasising the Royal Government's unwavering commitment to the welfare of all Cambodian citizens, especially those in conflict-affected border regions.
“The assistance reflects the Royal Government’s high sense of responsibility and compassion for citizens suffering from violence and aggression,” the governor stated. He added that the Royal Government is dedicated to taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety, stability, and improved living conditions for these vulnerable border communities.
Community representatives who received the aid conveyed profound appreciation, calling the support invaluable during a time of immense difficulty.
“This assistance has helped ease our immediate hardships and reassures us that the Royal Government has not abandoned us,” a community representative said. They expressed strong confidence in the Royal Government’s leadership and voiced hope for a swift and lasting return to normalcy and peace.
