Armored Vehicles Returned to Base in Banteay Srei Following Withdrawal from Border Area
AKP Phnom Penh, October 27, 2025 --
Armored vehicles were returned this morning to their base in Banteay Srei district, Siem Reap province, after being withdrawn from the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute area in Tormacheat village, Sra’Aem commune, Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province, last evening.
The withdrawal was carried out under the inspection of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and coordinated by the Observer Coordination Team of the Ministry of National Defence, following the agreement between Cambodia and Thailand to begin the first phase of the planned removal of heavy and destructive weapons as a symbolic demonstration of their commitment to implementing the Joint Declaration adopted in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the Ministry of National Defence, this action clearly demonstrates Cambodia’s firm and unwavering commitment to implementing the Joint Declaration signed on Oct. 26, 2025, by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, under the witness of U.S. President H.E. Donald J. Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim.
“Cambodia sincerely hopes that this positive step will contribute to the joint efforts of both countries in promoting peace, stability, and a swift return to normalcy,” the Ministry underlined.
