Cambodian Senate President Advises The Nation Thailand on Journalistic Professionalism
AKP Phnom Penh, October 23, 2025 --
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, has offered advice to The Nation Thailand regarding journalistic professionalism after reading several of its recent articles about Cambodia.
“What I wish to advise them is this: they should pay closer attention to Thailand's internal affairs rather than speculating about Cambodia’s political future,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen wrote on his social media platforms this evening.
He remarked that he has been in power since before some of these Thai journalists were even born or were still walking around naked. “I understand what internal Cambodian politics truly entails, while some of these Thai reporters seem unaware even of the state of their own country's affairs, yet still attempt to analyse and critique the situation in Cambodia,” he added.
The Senate President also advised the Thai media to pay close attention to what will unfold after the Thai government reaches four months in office, following the dissolution of parliament and the early elections scheduled for 2026.
“When it comes to Cambodia, we know how to manage our own affairs. There is no need to turn Thailand’s domestic stories into narratives about Cambodia,” he stressed.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen concluded his remarks with the saying, “If you’re going to play, don’t get angry; and if you’re going to get angry, don’t play.”
