Senate President Emphasises International Law as Key to Resolving Border Tension with Thailand
AKP Phnom Penh, October 16, 2025 -- Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, affirmed this morning that Cambodia remains firmly committed to resolving border tensions with Thailand through peaceful means based on international law, according to a press release issued by the Senate this afternoon.
Speaking at the opening session of the 4th Meeting of the 5th Legislature of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen commented on the recent border situation with Thailand.
The Senate President stressed that in response to Thailand’s aggressive violations of Cambodia’s territorial sovereignty, Cambodia will continue to pursue a peaceful resolution in strict accordance with international law.
At the same time, he appealed to friendly nations to help prevent any escalation and to ensure the effective implementation of the agreed ceasefire, so that normal relations between the two neighbouring countries can soon be restored.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed his deep appreciation to Cambodia’s frontline forces for their courage and dedication in defending the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
