Ministry of Health Denies False Reports on a Thai citizen’s Death in Poipet City
AKP Phnom Penh, October 08, 2025 -- The Ministry of Health of Cambodia has totally rejected the recent news circulated by certain media outlets and social media platforms about a Thai citizen’s death in Poipet city.
“The claim that a 24-year-old Thai chef died after a local hospital refused to provide treatment is entirely false,” stated the Ministry in a new release this afternoon.
Through investigation by competent authorities and a medical autopsy, the Thai man died of a heart attack, it added, underlining that the victim did not seek medical treatment, nor was he refused admission or care by any local hospital prior to his death.
The Ministry of Health firmly rejects and condemns the dissemination of this false information regarding the death. Such misinformation seriously damages the reputation and integrity of Cambodian medical professionals and causes misunderstanding among the national and international public.
The Ministry emphasises that all Cambodian health officials and medical staff consistently uphold professional ethics and are committed to saving lives without any form of discrimination — regardless of nationality, religion, or political belief.
Cambodia’s health institutions remain dedicated to providing inclusive and equitable healthcare services for all, as part of the Royal Government’s ongoing efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage to ensure that no one is left behind without access to essential health services.
The victim from Nakhon Si Thammarat province was found dead on the afternoon of Oct. 7 at an abandoned building in Kbal Spean 1 village, O’ Chrov commune, Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey province.
