International Community Welcomes Positive Progress in Cambodia-Thailand Border Dialogue

China, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and so on have issued their respective statements welcoming the positive outcomes of Special General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting between Cambodia and Thailand on Sept. 10 in Koh Kong province.
“China has made and will continue to make unremitting efforts to fully and effectively implement the ceasefire agreement and restore normal Cambodia-Thailand relations at an early date,” Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wenbin underlined in a Facebook post.
The British Embassies in Phnom Penh and Bangkok lauded the positive progress made at the Special GBC Meeting, including the reaffirmation of peaceful cooperation, humanitarian demining, and joint efforts to tackle cross-border challenges. “We encourage both sides to continue implementing the agreed plans, and support ASEAN's ongoing efforts to promote peace and development in the region,” stated the British Embassies.
In his X account, H.E. Derek Yip, Ambassador of Australia to Cambodia, said that Australia welcomes the outcomes of the Thailand-Cambodia GBC Meeting on Sept. 10, including undertraining that would help restore trust, build confidence & pave the way for a peaceful, sustainable resolution to the border dispute.
Japanese Press Secretary KITAMURA Toshihiro expected that both countries will continue to observe the ceasefire agreement and the tension between the Cambodia and Thailand will be eased peacefully through dialogue, considering a sound cooperative relationship between the two countries is extremely important for peace and stability in the region. In this regard, Japan will continue to make efforts to promote steady implementation of the ceasefire agreement and de-escalation of the tension, in coordination with relevant countries.
Cambodia and Thailand concluded their GBC Meeting on Sept. 10 with progress on key issues, including the withdrawal of heavy weapons to their regular military bases, the establishment of an ASEAN Observer Team, joint demining efforts, enhanced communication at all levels, and a commitment to refrain from spreading false information—marking an important step forward in advancing the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.
