H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), received a delegation from the Counter Counterfeit Committee led by H.E. Nov Leakhena, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Cambodian Counter Counterfeit Committee.

During the meeting, H.E. Nov Leakhena outlined the committee’s work and the strategic shift from enforcement-based crackdowns to education and support for manufacturers. He requested cooperation from MISTI, including data sharing on local production.

Minister Vanndy welcomed the new approach as aligned with MISTI’s strategy, emphasising protection for consumers, support for SMEs, and stronger patent enforcement for national innovation. He urged a whole-of-government approach to business processes, engaging relevant ministries-institutions to align national interests with private-sector growth.

The Minister also highlighted MISTI’s upgraded national laboratory, capable of supporting the Committee’s testing needs, and noted the newly launched food processing centre, alongside ongoing standard-development efforts to ensure product quality and safety.
