Cambodia Remains Committed to Collaborating with All Partners for Effective Ceasefire Implementation
AKP Phnom Penh, August 08, 2025 --
The Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia remains committed to working closely with Malaysia, as well as with all concerned parties, to ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire and to advance the peace process in the spirit of ASEAN unity and solidarity.
The commitment was reaffirmed by H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence, in a letter to his Malaysian counterpart H.E. Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha expressed his appreciation to H.E. Mohamed Khaled Nordin, especially regarding Malaysia's esteemed position as the rotating Chair of ASEAN and the Chair of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), following the successful convening of the extraordinary Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting on Aug. 7, 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“Your Excellency's leadership and the steadfast commitment of Malaysia have been instrumental in achieving the Ceasefire Agreement of July 28, 2025, as well as in fostering trust, mutual understanding, and a peaceful resolution to the situation along the common border between Cambodia and Thailand. This constructive engagement has contributed significantly to de-escalating tensions, preventing further loss of life and injuries, especially as this lays the foundation for lasting peace and stability in our region,” he wrote in the letter dated Aug. 8.
The Cambodian Defence Minister also requested his Malaysian counterpart to provide guidance and encourage the prompt development of the Terms of Reference (TOR) document.
“Once again, I would like to express my profound appreciation for your assistance and wish you and your colleagues good health, and wish the bonds of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between our two-armed forces and the people of Cambodia and Malaysia remain firm,” he concluded.
