Cambodian Defence Minister Meets Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces
AKP Phnom Penh, August 06, 2025 — Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha received H.E. Gen. Mohamed Nizam, Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces, and his delegation, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Aug. 5.
During the meeting, the Malaysian side reaffirmed its strong commitment to facilitating the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.
They further emphasised the importance of developing a Terms of Reference (TOR) and establishing the ASEAN Monitoring Team (AMT) as a credible and effective mechanism to monitor compliance, build mutual confidence, and ensure the sustainable restoration of peace along the border as swiftly as possible.
H.E. Gen. Nizam also shared a powerful and deeply meaningful message: “Life is precious,” “Time is essence,” “Peace is expensive.”
H.E. Gen. Tea Banh quoted the profound guidance of Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister: "Every day, every hour, and every minute we spend in negotiation can save the lives of our soldiers and our people. The sooner we achieve peace, the better."
According to H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, over the past three days, the General Border Committee (GBC) Secretariat teams of Cambodia and Thailand have held constructive and positive discussions. A number of Cambodia’s proposals have been accepted by the Thai side, while Cambodia has also acknowledged and welcomed several valuable inputs from Thai side.
