Cambodia Demands Thailand Cease Dissemination of Fabricated and Baseless Information
AKP Phnom Penh, August 06, 2025 --
Cambodia has strongly and categorically rejected what it calls baseless propaganda, unfounded accusations, and deliberately fabricated claims lacking evidence and proper investigation.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, delivered the response during a press briefing in Phnom Penh this afternoon. The statement follows reports circulated by Thai media claiming that the Buriram Provincial Police had arrested a Cambodian soldier from the Bodyguard Headquarters, allegedly hiding in Thailand to spy on Thai military movements.
“This claim, promoted by certain Thai media outlets, appears to be aimed at slandering Cambodia,” she underlined.
The spokesperson further clarified that the Ministry of National Defence and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces have strict protocols and do not allow individuals bearing such tattoos to serve in any capacity.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata called on the Thai side to immediately halt the spread of fabricated and unfounded information, which, she said, reflects a serious lack of professionalism on the part of the media institutions involved.
