Cambodian People Are Nationalists, Not Extremists
AKP Phnom Penh, August 04, 2025 --
H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, reaffirmed this morning that while Cambodian people are deeply patriotic, their nationalism is principled and free from extremism.
Speaking at a press briefing at 11:00 a.m. today, the government spokesperson highlighted the remarkable unity of the Cambodian people, especially in the face of external threats.
“The Cambodian people possess an extraordinary ability to unite as one, especially in times of national dangers, whether from aggression or external threat. They are proud of patriotism, firmly committed to national unity without embracing extremism,” he emphasised.
According to H.E. Pen Bona, this spirit of unity is one of Cambodia’s greatest and most enduring strengths. Other key factors include Cambodia’s experienced, visionary, and peace-loving leaders—who uphold long-term strategic perspectives in military, political, and diplomatic arenas—and the nation’s courageous soldiers, who remain steadfast in defending peace, sovereignty, and national dignity.
He also praised Cambodia’s unified and disciplined leadership structure, in which civil servants and armed forces faithfully and professionally carry out the directives of their superiors. This, he noted, was clearly demonstrated during the five-day armed clashes with Thailand from July 24 to 28, 2025.
“Although Cambodia is a small nation, it has drawn the attention and admiration of the international community for its strong national solidarity and constructive engagement with the world,” he added.
H.E. Pen Bona concluded by urging all Cambodians to continue nurturing this enduring spirit of unity for the benefit of future generations.
