Media Coverage Insights on Banking and Finance Enhanced
AKP Phnom Penh, August 01, 2025 -- The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) have jointly launched a training workshop for journalists and content creators, key opinion leaders, and influencers to deepen their understanding of Cambodia’s banking and financial sectors.
The training is running in two full-day sessions, on Aug. 1 and Aug. 15, 2025, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Phnom Penh.
The first session focused on the fundamentals of the banking and financial system, while the second will cover financial literacy in more depth.
Presiding over the opening ceremony, H.E. Kem Kunawadh, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Information, emphasised the rapid growth and importance of the financial sector in both urban and rural areas.
He highlighted the role of journalists in sharing accurate, trustworthy information to contribute toward raising awareness of financial knowledge for the client, public, and stakeholder.
“Journalists have a professional responsibility to present clear and truthful information, especially when it involves numbers and financial services,” said H.E. Kim Kunawadh.
Organisers stressed that accurate media coverage plays a vital role in improving financial literacy, creating a sound atmosphere, and contributing toward strengthening the regulation framework for efficiency to ensure inclusive growth of the microfinance sector.
Participants appreciated gaining direct insights from banking experts, noting the training equipped them to report financial topics more accurately and tackle misinformation.
