Samdech Khuon Sudary: Without Peace, Development Cannot Take Root
AKP Phnom Penh, August 01, 2025 -- Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, joined a dinner discussion on July 31 with parliamentary leaders and heads of inter-parliamentary institutions, as part of her diplomatic mission to Switzerland.
The dinner meeting, organised by the leadership of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), provided a platform for the exchange of views on enhancing parliamentary diplomacy in the face of complex global challenges.
Samdech Khuon Sudary also took the opportunity to share Cambodia’s successful experience in peacebuilding through the “Win-Win Policy,” initiated by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, then Prime Minister and now President of the Senate, which brought an end to the civil war in Cambodia in the late 1990s.
“The Win-Win Policy laid the foundation for national unity, lasting peace, and sustained development across all sectors,” Samdech emphasised. “Without peace, development cannot take root.”
The gathering was attended by Hon. Dev Raj Ghimire, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal; Hon. Ms. Gladys Jepkosgei Boss, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya; Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, Member of Parliament of Nepal and Secretary-General of the ISC; Hon. Lork Kheng, Chairwoman of the 8th Commission of the Cambodian National Assembly; and Hon. Dr. Chan Sotheavy, Chairwoman of the 6th Commission of the Cambodian Senate, along with other distinguished international guests.
