Cambodian National Assembly Makes a Clarification to Samdech Khuon Sudary’s Remarks at World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva

The National Assembly (NA) of the Kingdom of Cambodia this afternoon responded to the statement by the Thai NA President on July 13, 2025 over the recent intervention of the Cambodian NA President at the World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland.
“The intervention made by Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia at the 15th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament was made at 11:51 am on July 28, 2025 (Gevena Time) to inform women speakers from around the world about the facts relating the armed conflict between Cambodia and Thailand,” the Cambodian NA said in a statement released this afternoon.
“Please note that the intervention was made before the ceasefire negotiation in Kula Lumpur on July 28, 2025,” the statement underlined.
Addressing the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament was made at 10:51 am on July 30, 2025 (Geneva Time), Samdech President stated:
"We applaud the ceasefire declaration mediated by Malaysia on July 28, 2025. We are grateful to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his leadership and for hosting the ceasefire talks.
We heartfelt appreciate President Donald Trump for co-organising the meeting with the active participation of China. We express deepest gratitude to all international friends for supporting the ceasefire, which save lives and livelihoods of the people of the two nations.
I would like to call upon international friends and partners to closely monitor the implementation of the ceasefire, ensuring all parties honor their commitments to completely end the conflict.
To prevent the breach of the ceasefire, it is urgent to deploy international observers and inspection team. Please hold accountable those who violate the ceasefire. Fairness and justice are critical."
The Cambodian NA concluded its statement by reaffirming its support to the Royal Government of Cambodia in observing the ceasefire with good faith for the sake of long-lasting peace and stability between the two neighbours.
