Damnak Trayeung Chili Farmers Secure US$1.2 Million Grant for Irrigation, Production Boost
AKP Phnom Penh, July 11, 2025 --
The Damnak Trayeung Chili Farming Community in Phnom Kravanh district, Pursat province has secured a US$1.2 million grant from the Cambodia Agricultural Sector Diversification Project (CASDP) to expand production and build critical infrastructure.
The funding allocates US$60,000 directly to chili cultivation and US$1.1 million to construct a comprehensive irrigation system. This system will service all of Bun Rany Sen Chey village with water distribution pipes, enabling year-round farming.
H.E. Khim Finan, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, emphasised yesterday the grant’s significance: "This substantial public investment by the Royal Government will advance local economic development and directly benefit farming families in the targeted area."
The CASDP grant—part of a World Bank-financed initiative—provides co-financing for up to 40 percent of community investment costs. It aims to strengthen Cambodia’s agricultural diversification and rural resilience through essential infrastructure development.
