SCRC Delegates Unite Behind Government’s ICJ Move on Cambodia-Thailand Border Dispute
AKP Phnom Penh, July 07, 2025 --
All 30 political party representatives of the Supreme Consultation and Recommendation Council (SCRC) have expressed unanimous support for the move by the Royal Government of Cambodia in submitting a complaint to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding four long-disputed border areas between Cambodia and Thailand.
The endorsement was announced by SCRC Secretariat Head H.E. Chhim Phal Varun following the council’s third biannual meeting chaired by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace on July 7.
The meeting comes amid heightened efforts by Cambodia to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the disputed regions along the border, namely the Mom Bei area and the temple complexes of Ta Moan Thom, Ta Moan Tauch, and Ta Krabei.
While expressing their unified stance of a strong political consensus in defending national interests, the political delegates also highlighted their confidence in the government’s leadership and legal strategy, said H.E. Chhim Phal Varun.
Representing the government as well as the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reiterated the administration’s commitment to presenting robust evidence and adhering to legal protocols in the ICJ hearings, aiming for a peaceful and lasting resolution to the dispute.
