Pailin Inaugurates Peace Village Achievements
AKP Phnom Penh, June 27, 2025 --
Pailin province of Cambodia officially inaugurates milestone achievements through the integrated community development approach under the Peace Village Project implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development in cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Minister of Rural Development H.E. Chhay Rithisen presided over the inauguration event on June 27 in the province along with other dignitaries, including Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office Ms. Moon Jung Choi, Pailin Provincial Council President H.E. Chea Chan Din, and other senior representatives from the provincial administration.
The key achievements include five rural roads of 2,800 metres, three spillways of 90 metres, and three community water purification facilities with a total capacity of 60 cubic metres of drinking water per day along with a 2,350-metre-long distribution network.
Three community preschools equipped with toilets, handwashing facilities, and a 360-metre-long concrete fence were also part of the project’s outputs in Pailin.
According to Mr. Nom Sareuth, a lead consultant in charge of the project implementation, the Peace Village Project, with an investment of US$10 million, is being carried out from 2022 to 2026 in Pailin, Battambang, and Banteay Meanchey provinces.
The project targeted 12 villages in Pailin, 12 villages in Banteay Meanchey, and 6 villages in Battambang, he added.
Thanking KOICA for the support, H.E. Chhay Rithisen highly valued the project outputs so far that contribute significantly to Cambodia’s rural development.
It is well in line with the commitment and priorities of the Ministry of Rural Development to transform rural communities into potential development bases.
Some 400 local authorities, representatives from development partners, teachers, students, and community members joined the launch event.
