The Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ) and the Thai Journalists Association (TJA) have issued a joint statement addressing recent misinformation regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border.

The two organisations noted that "some media outlets" have recently published "incorrect and often unsubstantiated information" about the border situation. This spread of misinformation has occurred in both countries.

To counter this, the CCJ and TJA emphasised the need for continued communication between the two nations. They announced an urgent online meeting on May 28, 2025 to discuss these concerns and find solutions.

The joint statement urged media outlets to "exercise caution and refrain from publishing or broadcasting information without credible sources" and to verify information before dissemination. It also called on social media users in both countries to "carefully consider the potential consequences before sharing information related to the Cambodia-Thailand border situation."

The CCJ and TJA expressed hope that the border issues will be resolved peacefully through diplomatic means between the governments of both countries, in order to prevent any negative impacts on the long-standing relationship between the Cambodian and Thai peoples.
