"Cambodia-China Tourism Year 2025" to be Officially Launched This Weekend
AKP Phnom Penh, May 21, 2025 --
Cambodia and China will officially open their Tourism Year 2025 from May 23 to 25 in Phnom Penh, according to an announcement of the Ministry of Tourism.
To be organised by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia and relevant institutions, the official opening ceremony of "Cambodia-China Tourism Year 2025" is the result of the state visit of H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, to the Kingdom of Cambodia from April 17 to 18, 2025, as the leaders of both countries agreed to designate 2025 as the "Cambodia-China Tourism Year".
This forthcoming event will have a joint performance by Cambodian and Chinese artists on the evening of May 23 at the Chaktomuk Conference Hall, and to the general public in the garden of Techo Meas and Techo Yort along the Chaktomuk riverside walking street on May 24-25, the ministry pointed out.
In 2024, Cambodia welcomed 848,952 Chinese visitors, a 55 percent increase over the previous year. China has become the third largest source of foreign tourists for the Kingdom, after Thailand and Vietnam.
A significant influx of Chinese tourists is expected in 2025, thanks to the close ties between the two nations and Cambodia's tourist appeal.
