Samdech Techo Hun Sen Recalls 40-Year-Old Memory during Kampong Chhnang Royal Ploughing Ceremony
AKP Phnom Penh, May 15, 2025-—
At the Royal Ploughing Ceremony in Kampong Chhnang province this morning, presided over by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen reflected on a visit he made to the region four decades ago.
In a social media post on May 15, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recounted his two-day and one night visit to the province in December 1985, during his tenure as Prime Minister. “Returning to Kampong Chhnang reminds me of my work here 40 years ago,” he wrote. “I inspected local fishing activities, oversaw rice procurement and commodity distribution for residents, and initiated the production of two million rubber trays through a ceramic tile workshop in Kampong Leng district.”
Now 72, the Senate President highlighted the province’s transformation into a thriving region, contrasting its progress with his own journey from age 32 to 72. He shared a historic photo from the 1985 visit, featuring former provincial Governor Dork Narin, who accompanied him during the inspection.
The post underscored Kampong Chhnang’s evolution while honoring its enduring ties to Cambodia’s leadership.
