Cambodian PM Reaffirms Ban on E-Cigarette Investment

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this morning reaffirmed that Cambodia does not welcome investment in e-cigarettes.
The statement was made during a meeting with Mr. Barros Figueira Miguel, President of the Association of Tobacco Industry of Cambodia (ATIC), at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.
During the meeting, Mr. Miguel briefed Samdech Thipadei on ATIC’s activities, including its contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic development through the creation of over 4,500 local jobs and the provision of clean water equipment, computers, and so on.
Mr. Miguel also expressed the ATIC’s commitment to participating in public awareness campaigns aimed at educating Cambodian citizens on the impact of tobacco products and cigarettes.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet warmly welcomed the ATIC delegation and emphasised the Royal Government's efforts to improve public health and prevent the illegal importation of tobacco products.
He said that relevant ministries and institutions are currently reviewing various mechanisms to ensure a balance between addressing the challenges faced by investors and safeguarding public health.
Samdech Thipadei further stressed the importance of controlling the distribution of illegal tobacco products and reiterated that Cambodia will not allow e-cigarette investment.
