Facts on Measures Agreed to Ease Tension at Prasat Ta Moan Temple
AKP Phnom Penh, May 09, 2025 -- Cambodia and Thailand have agreed on measures to ease the tensions at Prasat Ta Moan temple, located in Banteay Ampil district of Oddar Meanchey province bordering Thailand.
A press release was issued by the Cambodia Ministry of National Defence on May 9 clarifying the agreed measures between the two countries to avoid public misunderstanding by fake news.
According to the release, a senior delegation of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and pertinent ministries and institutions joined the 17th Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) meeting with the Thai counterpart in Bangkok.
The meeting agreed that the two neighbours maintain their troops at previous positions along the border, and only five soldiers from each country are stationed at the temple.
Although the two sides did not point out a complete troop withdrawal from the temple, they were committed to continuing normal communication and regular mutual updates to prevent any clash or misunderstanding.
The Ministry of National Defence turns down and condemns any news that does not reflect the facts mentioned.
