Tourism Minister Calls for New Cultural Events and Products to Attract Green Season Visitors
AKP Phnom Penh, May 08, 2025 --
Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism, H.E. Huot Hak, has called on the private sector to actively collaborate in developing tourism products and culturally enriching events aimed at attracting visitors during the Green Season, which spans from April to October.
Speaking at a working group meeting on May 7 with tourism stakeholders, Minister Huot Hak urged joint efforts to improve hospitality services, offer competitive pricing on accommodation and food, and organise strategic events that showcase the unique cultural heritage of Cambodia’s provincial cities.
H.E. Minister emphasised that enhanced collaboration with private enterprises and local content creators would strengthen the ministry’s strategy to boost tourist arrivals during the Green Season—a term now used in place of “rainy season” to highlight Cambodia’s verdant landscapes, cooler weather, and tranquil atmosphere during these months.
“The Green Season presents a distinct and refreshing tourism experience,” said H.E. Huot Hak. “We believe that by uniting public and private efforts, we can surpass our tourist arrival targets.”
To support the initiative, the Ministry of Tourism is working closely with relevant ministries, sub-national administrations, and the private sector to establish effective implementation mechanisms.
According to ministry's data, nearly two million international tourists visited Cambodia in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 16 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. Minister Huot Hak attributed this growth to Cambodia’s peace, political stability, safety, vibrant culture, diverse accommodations, excellent cuisine, and improving infrastructure—all of which continue to position the Kingdom as a compelling destination.
