Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has extended his heartfelt congratulations to his compatriots for their joyful and vibrant celebrations of the Khmer Traditional New Year, observed from April 14 to 16, 2025.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the third session of the 5th legislature of the Senate, held this morning at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh, Samdech Techo Hun Sen praised the nationwide festive atmosphere.

“This year, our people celebrated the New Year with great happiness and joy across the country,” he noted.

The Senate President highlighted four key factors that contributed to the success of the celebrations.

First and foremost, he emphasised peace as the foundation that made such nationwide festivities possible. He also cited the country’s improved infrastructure, the growing availability of transport options, and the steady rise in the people’s living standards as essential elements that enhanced the New Year experience for Cambodians.
