Cambodia, Malaysia Discuss Defence Cooperation

H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), received visiting H.E. Gen. Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain Bin Jantan, Chief of the Malaysian Army, to discuss potential defence cooperation.
The courtesy meeting, held on April 21 at RCAF headquarters in Phnom Penh, focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for collaboration in the defence sector.
During the discussion, H.E. Gen. Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain Bin Jantan briefed H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen on the outcomes of his earlier meeting with H.E. Gen. Mao Sophan, RCAF Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army. He also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the finalisation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries’ Ministries of National Defence, which is expected to be signed in September this year.
H.E. Gen. Vong Pisen warmly welcomed the Malaysian delegation and expressed appreciation for the growing cooperation between the two armies, particularly their joint efforts toward the signing of a Terms of Reference (TOR) agreement.
He also highlighted the close cooperation between the Cambodian and Malaysian militaries, particularly in areas such as training, delegation exchanges, information sharing, counter-terrorism, the fight against transnational crimes, joint military exercises and so on.
