AKP Chongqing, April 21, 2025 --

The International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), together with the CPC Chongqing Committee and the Working Committee of Chongqing New Area, held on April 21 a thematic briefing on “Stories of CPC— Chongqing’s Achievements in Practicing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”. 

The theme of the event is "striving to write a Chongqing chapter of Chinese modernization." More than 200 political party leaders from over 50 countries, some foreign envoys to China and representatives of foreign business communities in China attended the event.  

Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has followed the trend of the times and wishes of the people, leading the people in the exploration of a path for urban development with Chinese characteristics, said Yuan Jiajun, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee. 

“The CPC is willing to strengthen experience exchanges with political parties of various countries on urban development and modernisation, and continuously advance the modernisation process of each country and the world,” he said at the opening ceremony of the thematic briefing on “Stories of CPC —Achievements of Chongqing in Practicing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.”

A Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Dr. Chheng Kimlong, Vice Chairman of the Commission for External Relations of the Cambodian People’s Party Central Committee and H.E. Van Vithyea, Consul General of Cambodia in Chongqing, attended the event. 

Foreign guests expressed that through participating in the event and visiting Chongqing, they witnessed the remarkable achievements of Chongqing New Area’s development. 

H.E. Dr. Chheng Kimlong said that with the success stories of China led by the CPC in achieving her first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society and despite the global challenges, China is now on a steady path toward achieving her second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful. 

“Chongqing has surprised me in several ways, from its natural beauty and wonders, to its rich history, culture, the friendly and hospitable people and relentless development progress made by the Chongqing government,” H.E. Dr. Chheng Kimlong said.
