Cambodian Top Diplomat and Indian Ambassador Discuss Various Areas of Cooperation

H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received a courtesy call on from H.E. Bawitlung Vanlalvawna, the new Ambassador of India to Cambodia, at the ministry in Phnom Penh on April 9.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the meeting, the Cambodian top diplomat congratulated Ambassador Vanlalvawna on his appointment and expressed satisfaction with the longstanding friendship and good cooperation between Cambodia and India, rooted in shared historical and cultural ties.
H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and H.E. Indian Ambassador recalled His Majesty the King's State Visit to India in May 2023 and Prime Minister HUN Manet's visit in February 2022, in his capacity as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. They discussed the possibility of exchange visits by the two Prime Ministers in the near future.
H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and Ambassador Vanlalvawna welcomed the successful outcomes and agreed to push for the effective implementation of the agreements reached during the 3rd Foreign Office Consultations held in Siem Reap in March and looked forward to the 3rd Meeting of Joint Commission between the two Foreign Ministries to be held in boost cooperation. They highlighted the growing bilateral trade and the need to accelerate effort to deepen economic cooperation through existing bilateral mechanisms. H.E. PRAK Sokhonn thanked the Government of India for supporting Cambodia's development, heritage conservation, demining, and human resource development.
H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and the Indian Envoy welcomed the progress in connectivity, people-to-people exchange, and tourism with the launch of direct flights between Phnom Penh and New Delhi in June 2024 and hoped that new flight routes between the two countries would be established.
Both sides also touched on defence and security cooperation. Ambassador Vanlalvawna expressed appreciation for Cambodia's assistance and cooperation in combating online scams, and rescue of victims and reaffirmed India's commitment to strengthening the partnership with Cambodia across all areas of mutual interest.
