EXPO2025 Osaka to Contribute to Promote Cambodia’s Potential Products to International Audience
AKP Phnom Penh, April 04, 2025 --
Cambodia is going to take part in the upcoming EXPO2025 Osaka, Japan, expecting to promote potential export-oriented products and tourism potential to an international audience, particularly to the Japanese market.
H.E. Mrs. CHAM Nimul, Minister of Commerce, will lead a delegation to attend the opening ceremony of the EXPO2025 Osaka on April 12, in Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
Themed "Designing Future Society for Our Lives," the EXPO2025 Osaka will be held from April 13 to Oct. 13, 2025. Spanning 154 hectares, the six-month event is officially approved by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) of France with the confirmed participation from 158 countries and seven major international organisations.
Japan anticipates welcoming around 28 million visitors, including approximately 3.5 million international visitors.
In participating in the EXPO2025 Osaka, the Kingdom of Cambodia has constructed a Cambodian Pavilion inspired by Koh Ker Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it is also the centerpiece of the pavilion.
This reflects Cambodia's unwavering commitment to preserving the cultural heritage while showcasing the architectural and artistic excellence of the Khmer civilisation, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement released this morning.
In addition, the Cambodian Pavilion also contains the Kou Prey statue, Cambodia's national animal, and the biodiversity which represents the nation's abundant natural resources.
To the left, a depiction of an Angkor Wat bas-relief on the temple wall features the "Churning of the Ocean of Milk", a famous bas-relief that symbolises Khmer mythology and craftsmanship. To the right, traditional Khmer bamboo houses exemplify Cambodia's architectural heritage.
The pavilion's central landscape highlights a panoramic view of lush rice fields, emphasising the country's agricultural potential and renowned rice products, and hosts a moquette of Angkor Wat Temple.
Furthermore, a selection of Khmer products will be exhibited, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience Cambodia's rich traditions and export potential.
“This EXPO2025 Osaka presents an opportunity for Cambodia to promote potential export-oriented products and tourism potential to an international audience, particularly to the Japanese market,” the ministry said.
In collaboration with the Japanese Expo Organising Committee, Cambodia will host Cambodian National Day on July 5, 2025, featuring an array of cultural performances, artistic displays, culinary showcases, product exhibitions, and thematic forums.
The Ministry of Commerce, as chair of the inter-ministerial committee for organising and participating in world expositions and international trade fairs, took the opportunity to invite all national and international visitors to explore and visit the Cambodian Pavilion at EXPO2025 Osaka, commencing from April 13, 2025.
