AKP Phnom Penh, April 04, 2025 --
While the Angkor Sankranta event to celebrate the Khmer New Year is coming on April 14, the host, Siem Reap provincial authority, and tourism business operators in the province have reassured their best service and hospitality.
Extending a warm welcome to all domestic and international tourists, Acting Director of Siem Reap Provincial Department of Tourism Mr. Thim Sereyvuth said that his administration has issued instructions for all tourism business operators to ensure hygienic and quality service with reasonable prices.
He was optimistic that the three-day Angkor Sankranta 2025 celebration will boost the province’s economy, directly and indirectly benefiting the locals, not only the business operators.
According to the Acting Director, more than 85 percent of rooms at the downtown hotels and guesthouses have been booked, while about 60 percent of those located in suburban areas have been sold.
A restaurant and archery club owner Mr. Duk Det expressed his excitement, affirming that his business is ready to welcome visitors and he is committed to providing high-quality service at an acceptable price.
Mr. Khan Van Chhay, a representative of the tourism community network in the well-known tourist site Banteay Srei district in Siem Reap province, said that some food and services had been booked with reasonable charges.
On behalf of his community, he was committed to providing the best services to make their visit during the new year a joyful and memorable one.
According to a report from the Siem Reap Provincial Tourism Department, in the first three months of 2025, the province received 806,631 tourists (398,531 of them were international visitors), a decrease of 14.16 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
The Angkor Sankranta celebration has gained more traction since its first launch in 2013 with 170,000 tourists.
Angkor Sankranta 2023 welcomed over two million visitors, generating a cash flow of over US$126 million in the province.
