Minister: China to Support Restoration of Temples in Preah Vihear and Siem Reap
AKP Phnom Penh, March 21, 2025 --
China is highly committed to supporting Cambodia with the restoration of ancient Khmer temples in Preah Vihear province and at the Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap province, according to the Minister of Culture and Fine Arts.
H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona revealed the committed support when addressing the conclusion of the 10th Plenary and Technical Session of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Preah Vihear (ICC-Preah Vihear) in Siem Reap on Mar. 19.
China has supported the restoration of the Chau Say Tevoda and Ta Keo Temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park, she said, adding that the country is studying the restoration of Preah Vihear Temple.
Restoring the considered parts of the Preah Vihear Temple will take a long time, yet China stays committed to extending the support to Cambodia.
H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona presided over the 10th Plenary and Technical Session of ICC-Preah Vihear with the co-chairmanship of Vice Minister for Culture and Tourism H.E. Li Qun and Ambassador of India to Cambodia H.E. Ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung and with the attendance of around 100 relevant national and international partners and stakeholders.
The gathering discussed the restoration, conservation, and development of the resort at Preah Vihear Temple and Koh Ker Temple.
