Cambodia, Australia Vow to Further Foster Trade Cooperation

Cambodia and Australia have pledged to foster bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly trade and investment.
The commitment was made in a meeting between H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce and H.E. Tim Ayres, Assistant Minister for Trade of Australia, in Sydney on Feb. 17.
On the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral trade relations and opportunities to enhance cooperation.
They underscored the importance of the bilateral trade ties and expressed their commitment to expanding bilateral trade to further bolster the relationship between Cambodia and Australia.
They also discussed the quality and potential of Cambodian rice, as well as the possibility of further Australian investment in Cambodia in human resource development, education and skills training, and healthcare.
The bilateral trade between Cambodia and Australia were valued at nearly US$598 million in 2024, marking a 19.2 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to a report from the Ministry of Commerce.
Cambodia exported US$487 million worth of goods to Australia, a year-on-year increase of 31 percent.
