Ministry of Commerce and Australian Embassy Review CAPRED Initiative
AKP Phnom Penh, February 17, 2025 --
The Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia held a meeting with a delegation from the Australian Embassy in Phnom Penh to review the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) initiative, underscoring the importance of sustained collaboration in advancing economic resilience and long-term trade development.
The ministry’s Secretary of State H.E. Samheng Bora, Chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force, chaired the debriefing meeting here last week with Ms. Kanu Negi, First Secretary, Australian Embassy, along with delegates from the CAPRED.
The discussion centred on reviewing CAPRED’s progress and outlining the strategic direction and work plan for 2025, according to a statement issued on Feb. 17.
As Australia’s flagship economic development initiative in Cambodia (2022–2027), CAPRED plays a pivotal role in fostering resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, the ministry said.
The meeting assessed key milestones and ongoing initiatives, particularly in coordination role with private sectors, export promotion, and infrastructure development—all closely aligned with Cambodia’s economic priorities.
Discussions highlighted significant progress in expanding market access for Cambodian exports, strengthening trade and investment linkages, and enhancing SMEs competitiveness.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation under CAPRED, underscoring the importance of sustained collaboration in advancing economic resilience and long-term trade development.
